The Memphis-born rapper, whose government name is Gloria Woods, was targeted in a burglary attempt while she was out of the country performing. According to Atlanta police reports, officers responded to an active break-in call at her home. But what they found inside sparked an entirely different investigation.
During a sweep of the property, authorities discovered a large quantity of marijuana, reportedly packaged in a way consistent with distribution. That discovery led to felony drug charges being filed against the rapper, despite her absence during the incident.
By the time the news broke, GloRilla had just come off a career-high — performing to a packed arena at the WNBA All-Star Game in Paris, where she delivered a showstopping set that celebrated Black women’s empowerment and Hip-Hop’s cultural influence. Within 48 hours of returning stateside, she voluntarily turned herself in to Fulton County officials.
Court records show that she was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and released shortly afterward on a $22,260 bond.
